The Cyanotype Process

Cyanotype, or sun-print, is one of the oldest photographic processes, dating back to the 1840s and popularized by Anna Atkins. This eco friendly, hand printing technique uses light-sensitive iron salts and UV light to create unique blue images on the natural fibres we print on. The process involves coating the materials surface with an emulsion, exposing it to sunlight along with a negative or objects like botanicals to give it form, and rinsing with water to finalise the print. Each piece is unique, showcasing beautiful tonal variations and potential "blemishes" that add character, making every piece an original work of art.

A Bit About Rebecca

My love for photography and printmaking began over 30 years ago, spending hours in my dad’s darkroom, developing negatives and watching images come to life. The magic of that process—light transforming into art—stayed with me. Cyanotype takes me back to those early days, blending my lifelong passion for photography with hands-on artistic expression. Each UV-printed design is a reflection of that love—where craftsmanship, creativity, and nostalgia come together to create something truly unique.
